Before you pay for a Six Sigma certification

A certificate does not get you hired. A project you can defend does. This is the one-page checklist I use when someone asks me which certification to buy.

• 1Answer these five before you pay. The questions that decide whether a certification is worth anything to you this year.
• 2Which belt. Yellow, Green, Black, or none. Matched to the work you will actually do.
• 3Provider red flags. Six conditions. Any one of them is enough to walk away.
• 4The project test. How to state a project so it survives an interview.
• 5Ask the provider these three, in writing. The questions a course that sells certificates cannot answer.
